Attorney Edith Rysdyk

Born and raised in New York, Attorney Edith Rysdyk worked in the Suffolk County Attorney’s Office from 1983-1988 and was thereafter a partner at Crimmins & Rysdyk, a corporate litigation firm, in Riverhead, NY.  Atty. Rysdyk has been with Scherline & Associate since moving to Pennsylvania in 1994.  Atty. Rysdyk’s practice is limited to personal injury, including cases involving automobile accidents, slip and falls, and dog bites.  Atty. Rysdyk is a member of the New York and Pennsylvania Bar.  After graduating with her undergraduate degree from SUNY at Stony Brook in 1979, she received her law degree from Vermont Law School in 1982.  As well as being a court appointed arbitrator, Atty. Rysdyk has been involved in jury trials, bench trials, arbitrations, and mediations including serious automobile accidents, catastrophic injury claims, and wrongful death claims.  Atty. Rysdyk has also lectured for the Bar Association of the Lehigh County on automobile accident claims and slip and fall matters.

Atty. Rysdyk was the attorney for the plaintiff in the breach of contract and bad faith claim of Atiyeh v. Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance Company decided in the United States District Court – Eastern District of Pennsylvania.  The court decided that the insurance company and its independent medical evaluation of the plaintiff lacked a reasonable basis for discontinuing the plaintiff’s first party benefits.  An arbitration resulted in the award of benefits for the injured claimant.

Outside of the firm, Atty. Rysdyk has volunteered for the local soup kitchen, cancer society and other community events.  Atty. Rysdyk is also involved in the Vizsla Club of Greater New York and the Allentown Dog Training Club and enjoys dog training and competition in her free time.
